Pictures of the Grand Canyon

Photos of the Grand Canyon, ArizonaThe word “awesome” is often misused, but there can be no doubt that this is the best way to describe the immense scale of the Grand Canyon. At 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide, and a mile deep, this is a powerful and inspiring landscape. Yet despite its size, one of the things most striking about the Grand Canyon is something that isn’t there…. sound. Especially at sunrise, the deafening silence combined with the immense natural wonder is a humbling and profound experience. Most visitors are attracted to the South Rim, with amazing overlooks such as Mather Point and Yavapai point. The North Rim only receives about 10% of the visitor numbers due to its remoteness and seasonality, but offers a superb peaceful alternative view of the canyon, without the bustle.
