Go anywhere in the world, and you’ll find pictures of New York hanging somewhere nearby. There can be few cities on Earth as well-known. It boasts some of the world’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Brooklyn Bridge, the Chrysler Building, Central Park and Grand Central Terminal. Consequently, the city has for a long time represented the essence of the United States. As a result, it can be difficult to produce original photographs of New York. When immersed in an environment that feels like the world’s largest film set, there can be a temptation – and why not – to reproduce some of the iconic images burned on one’s consciousness since childhood.
